I have been pretty hopeless on here lately. Been posting a bunch of things over on my Tumblr. Multiple blogs are hard to keep up.

And here it is finally! Our 48 hour film fest film

June 17, 2011

Typhoid Films – The Deliveryer
This is the film we made for the V 48 hour film fest. I was one of the camera operators. It is all shot on 5d mkII and 7d cameras with 50mm f1.8 and 24mm f1.4L lenses.

For those that don’t know, in the V48 hour film fest you get 48 hours to write, film and edit a short film. If you are even one second too late at the drop off time you do not get in. The time starts from when you get your brief in which you are told the things your film must involve.

Every film this year had to involve these things
Prop: A bent piece of wire
Character: Bobby or Bobbi Young an ex bully
Tech: Freeze Frame finish
Line: What have you got
and then there were a mix of genres. we got Quest Movie

There are still a few hours of bidding left for some amazing pieces of art and all the money goes to 18 victims and their families as they try get off ridiculous charges for terrorism and plotting to assassinate George W. Bush.

For more info on this go to the Concerned Citizens page – http://www.concernedcitizens.co.nz and go see Operation 8 if you come across a screening of it some time, see the trailer here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvsNbaukAVY

The bidding is up till 8PM tonight which is only about 2 hours away now. Go bid on some rad pictures, in particular check out my favourite artists in the exhibition, Blake Dunlop and Hannah Salmon.

Also my friends Spannerz and Carlos Patino have some great work up for grabs. Their artwork isn’t up on the site but I got a few pictures of what they have done for it so just click their names to see their submissions.

I also have several images up for grabs, so find them and bid on them also. One image in particular “Necropolis Toilet” is of the smashed toilet from one of the properties raided in the 2007 raids. However this photo was after some kids smashed it one night after watching some bands play in the lounge. You can bid on the images right here – http://auction.dinotech.co.nz/

Here are some photos of people looking at the exhibitions, and watching the film.

Metal bands at Medusa

June 5, 2011

Went along to watch a friend fill in on drums for a band on Thursday and quite enjoyed a couple of the bands I saw. Only managed to watch the first three bands before realising that I had left my keys somewhere and needed to get them if I wanted to get in to my house later.

Entrails album release with Rogernomix and Shock Futuro

June 4, 2011

The release show for ENTRAILS new full length album “Laid To Waste” was last week and was a free show at San Fran Bath House in Wellington. If you missed it pick up a copy of their album HERE.

First band of the night was the always excellent SHOCK FUTURO. This was one of, if not the last show from them before Liz heads overseas for a bit of an adventure. I am glad they could play. Liz’s Public Enemy shirt was rad. After Shock were ROGERNOMIX, Ben is such a great drummer to watch and I always thoroughly enjoy this band.

Last up for the night were ENTRAILS. They played an excellent set which included a very good cover of Groundhog Day originally from Guest Stabs Host for the Hardcore Cinema 7″. Make sure you guys head along to see them on their upcoming dates in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North and Wellington

Cave Road

May 23, 2011

Thought I was going to miss this great party due to 48 Hour but I was there in the end. Rad flat warming party at Liz, Sam and Felix’s new place in Houghton Bay. This show saw the start of two new bands, one from Wellington and one from Hamilton.

First up were INFLUENCE who were pretty rad. Keen to see some more of this new band featuring Tony and James from Meth Drinker. After them VIKING WEED who had made the trip down from Hamilton for their first show played. This band consists of John of Scoundrels/Arc of Ascent, James of Gawj/Open Tomb, Lloyd of Wasteland/Electric Mayhem and Andrew who was playing with a band for the first time. I strongly suggest checking them out, I have a couple of videos that I will be uploading some time soon. (see their second show in Hamilton at Void on the 24th of June)

NUMBSKULL were up next playing their first show since recording their half of a split with Electric Mayhem which I suggest you keep an eye out for. By this point I had had a few drinks so I apologise for the lack of interesting information of each band, go to a show and find out for yourself what they are all like. Fourth band of the night to play in the crowded lounge was SHOCK FUTURO, Liz looked to be having a lot of fun getting to play in her own house. ROGERNOMIX were the second to last band of the night and are continuing on as a band I really enjoy to watch play. Bens drumming is good. And unfortunately I must confess to not really watching the last band of the night, HOON

Thank you Liz, Sam and Felix for having us in your house and giving us a rad party to attend. Also this is Ruby, the other resident of Cave Street
